How do I create a database?

Click + beside Databases in the sidebar, give it a name and what it collects, then click Create.

Checked against Terra 0.1.0
  1. In the sidebar, click + beside Databases.
  2. Type a Name.
  3. In the menu below it, pick query or folder.
  4. Type what it collects. A query looks like tag:project type:paper. A folder looks like Projects/Active.
  5. Click Create. The database opens as a Table.

Shortcut: none

Other ways

  • Choose File › New Database, or click New… in the toolbar and choose New database. Terra opens a database named Untitled. Click View preferences, open the Database tab and set its Assembly. To name it, right-click it in the sidebar and choose Rename.

Good to know

  • A database doesn't hold notes. It shows every note that matches its query or sits in its folder, and stays up to date as notes change.
  • You can change a query later under View preferences › Database › Assembly, as Filter conditions or SQL. A folder database always shows its folder.
  • To nest a database under Tasks, Calendar or Links, add a child database instead.
