How do I add headings, lists, to-dos, quotes or code blocks?
Type / and pick the block, or type its Markdown at the start of a line.
- Start a new line.
- Type
/and choose Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Bullet list, Numbered list, To-do, Quote or Code block. - Or type the Markdown, then a space:
#,##or###for a heading-or*for a bullet1.for a numbered list[ ]for a to-do>for a quote```for a code block
Shortcut: ⌥⌘1, ⌥⌘2 or ⌥⌘3 for a heading. ⇧⌘8 bullets, ⇧⌘7 numbers, ⇧⌘9 to-dos, ⇧⌘B quote, ⌥⌘C code block.
Other ways
- Click Turn into in the note's toolbar to change the current block. Task and Code block have their own buttons there.
- Click a block's handle in the left margin and choose Turn into.
Good to know
- Tab and ⇧Tab indent and outdent list items.
- Click a to-do's box to move it through open, in progress, done and cancelled.
- A
#followed by a word, with no space between, makes a tag, not a heading. - Add a language after the backticks, like
```python, to set the code block's language.
