How do I pull tasks out of note text?

Write each task as a checkbox line in a note. Terra lists it in Tasks without any extra step.

Checked against Terra 0.1.0
  1. In a note, type /todo and choose To-do. To turn a line you already wrote into a task, type /todo on it and choose To to-do instead.
  2. Type the task.
  3. Click Tasks in the sidebar. The task is there.
  4. Change its status or fields on Tasks, and Terra writes the change back to the line in the note.

Shortcut: none

Good to know

  • Add fields at the end of the line, after :::, such as ::: due=2026-10-06 priority=high. The line turns into a task card in the note.
  • Checkbox lines inside code blocks aren't tasks.
  • To have a task database read only some notes or folders, choose them under Sources in its header.
